What Is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a system of medicine that originated in China over 2000 years ago. Acupuncture treatment is the insertion of stainless steel, disposable needles into the body at specific acupuncture points which have been empirically proven to be effective in the treatment of specific disorders. How Does Acupuncture Work?
Chinese medicine is based on the flow of energy (qi) throughout the body.
Qi moves along pathways within the body called meridians. According to
Chinese medical theory illness arises when the cyclical flow of qi in the meridians
becomes blocked or unbalanced. By stimulating specific acupuncture points
along the meridians the bodies qi can become balanced and move freely.
