Ron Riskin, L.Ac.,Dipl.Ac., is a California state licensed and nationally licensed acupuncturist practicing in Santa Barbara, California. Ron has been serving the Santa Barbara and Goleta community for over 20 years. Ron specializes in the treatment of musculoskeletal pain, sports injuries as well as pre and post surgical pain. Ron’s caring manner and gentle technique bring great comfort and support toward healing the body, the mind and the spirit.
BACKGROUND As a young boy, Ron’s family doctor greatly influenced his desire to become a healer. Dr. Epstein was a kind and compassionate man who loved his profession and his patients. He made regular housecalls to the Riskin household and had a deep connection with Ron and his health. His presence alone helped to heal his patients. Ron has carried this feeling with him throughout his journey in the medical field, and is most concerned with connecting with his patients, providing a safe and comfortable environment for healing. Initially Ron was on his way to medical school, but became disillusioned with its symptomatic approach to healing. After studying nutrition, massage, yoga and various other modalities, he discovered acupuncture. Immediately he knew he had found the perfect fit, an intimate form of medicine that put the patient first.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Ron attended the University of California at Santa Barbara as a pre-med student. He received a degree in Biological Sciences as well as a teaching credential in biology. He graduated from the Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine in 1986. Ron has worked with health and healing most of his adult life. He helped create The Breakthrough Center, one of Santa Barbara’s first acupuncture detox clinics. One of his specialties is helping people to overcome their habitual behaviors and addictions, utilizing acupuncture, relaxation and a caring mindful approach.
